crock-testing
"A crock test is used to determine the amount of color that may be transferred from a sample fabric to another fabric by rubbing.
How This Test Works:
A sample fabric is fastened to the crock meter and then rubbed against a white test cloth. This test is done twice; first with a dry test cloth, then with a wet test cloth. The amount of color transferred to the test cloth is assessed by comparison with the AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale."

-9 degrees
Inspired by my friend Kate, I made a terrarium on Sunday. I knew the weather was about to change so I took advantage of the thawed ground and the blooming violets in my backyard and dug some up to plant in this jar. I also took moss that was growing in the clawfoot tub in the back flowerbed and some lavender seedlings that I brought in at the first frost in autumn... The violets may have been angry that I robbed them of the last of the sunlight Sunday afternoon, but if they knew what was in store I imagine they'd thank me.Monday, January 31, 2011

After 4 days of the pipes in my house being frozen I've begun racking my brain for new ways to try to thaw them...
