high fashion

Note that these fashion drawings don't have the year, just 'spring-winter'. That's because these looks are timeless...

I like the one in the middle

Those showgirls sure know how to wear a pressed men's shirt...

weekend in la

How creepy and nice is this? Very. The answer is very.

wedding guest

This was one of the guests at my friend Vanessa's wedding last May. He was so damn excited about that balloon. I think he may have been drinking. It's hard to tell with turtles...

from a while ago

This is a zebra that I made last year for a baby shower, as a gift to a friend's baby. It was really soft because it was from a worn gap t-shirt from the thrift store.

chili socks

Today I am wearing my Texas Chili socks that I got at a dollar store in 1999. They have a recipe for Texas Chili on them. The fact that I'm wearing them today means two things:

1. I own a pair of socks with the words 'ground beef' woven into them.

2. I really need to do laundry.

9 am meeting

These are two drawings I did during a meeting I had this morning.

Sunday dinner

A benefit to living alone is the opportunity to eat whatever I feel like for dinner. A nice option, from time to time, is popcorn and beer. I realize that last night's dinner was the summertime equivalent to this, with corn on the cob and a couple gin and tonics. Maybe I knew that I'd wake up to brazen fall weather and a cold wet rain- like the squirrels' instincts that tell them to bury food in my potted plants outside, my instincts told me that summer is ending and I should make the most of the taste of summer before the first snow...

dream show

I had a dream the other night that these three bands were playing in Denver next Monday night. It was so realistic that in my dream I was figuring out the logistics of what I needed to get done on Tuesday, because I would no doubt be exhausted from an amazing night of music. This is what the concert poster would most likely look like- all the details are directly from my dream. (not sure of the venue, however... Probably at the Bluebird? Or maybe Larimer Lounge?)

goosebuster

Geese get the message: "STAY AWAY!"

The GooseBuster ® is a full-featured sonic goose control system that gets rid of stubborn infestations with an audio attack. This automated sound system uses four speakers to broadcast sound waves and audio signals. The sounds confuse, disorient, and intimidate pest birds to quickly scare them away from the effective area up to 6,500 square feet.

This is how I am guessing it would work:

pickles

Last night I made and canned 12 jars of zucchini pickles. I feel like the vinegar burned a hole in my brain. This is a picture of the phase where the zucchini boils in the vinegar with all the spices before being put in jars. (The jars on the left are dill pickles from the weekend- a much easier process, I realized, and one that's much more suitable for a Tuesday evening after work...) I am considering getting a digital camera so that I can take better pictures than this, which was taken with my crappy cellphone, but then there's something sort of nice about the poor quality of this picture. I suppose the stove's digital clock gives it away, but otherwise this could be a color photo taken with a Polaroid land camera in 1976.

notes from a meeting

I cleaned my desk today, and found this page of notes from a meeting a while ago. As a designer it can be interesting to revisit my thought process from the beginning phase of a project, and to see where my ideas come from.

broken bridge

When I lived in Providence I used to find so many flattened pairs of eyeglasses in the road. Not so much anymore, which is why this little piece of mangled metal and plastic caught my eye and I slipped it in my pocket. I forgot about it but found it again today, and then wondered what happened to all those pairs and pieces I slipped in my pockets years ago...
