tangent

Something was running on my roof this morning. I think it was probably a squirrel, but it sounded like something much bigger. The squirrels in my yard are the size of cats, though...

I used to have squirrels in my walls in an apartment in Providence. They were in my ceiling, too. One tried to claw it's way into my bathroom but I plugged the hole he'd started with steel wool and thought all was resolved.

One morning I woke up because I heard something in my kitchen, and when I got up to see what it was I saw a squirrel sitting on the edge of my kitchen sink, staring at me. I stood on a chair and threw a flipflop at him and he dove under the sink into the open cabinet where he had apparently come from. The cabinet didn't latch properly so I quickly duct taped it closed. I realized I should probably call my landlord, but of course my sink was full of dirty dishes so I decided to wash them first to avoid embarrassment when he showed up. The only problem was that the squirrel didn't seem to be able to find the hole in the wall that he had squeezed through, so was stuck in the cupboard. He started to panic when I turned on the water, and he scratched at the duct taped door in a frenzy. Still partly asleep I decided the best solution was to put in earplugs and continue washing the dishes. I can't remember how things panned out that morning- only the ridiculousness in retrospect of the squirrel and me both acting crazy in my little Providence kitchen...

I hope it doesn't come to that with the guy running across my roof this morning. Hmm...

migration

It's funny being in the Southwest of the US, because the geese continue to migrate through much of the winter. In New England their migration was a harbinger of winter and then you could assume you wouldn't see them again until their return in the spring. I can imagine they're the same geese I'd see if I were back in New England. They're just much further on their journey when it's this late in the season. Things are different here.

one more

You can see how sweet this guys turns were by the fact that his hand is blurred in the photo. I could almost smell the burning rubber...

neat helmets, boys...

I really wish this picture was in focus... The guy on the right was dancing.

but she's a dj

I suppose some of the boothbabes at CES weren't scantily clad. Like the ones who were 'djs'. They wore sparkly silver vests. Like real djs do.

CES

Today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas I decided it would be funny to take as many pictures as I could of hot, scantily clad women with sweaty, nerdy, middle aged men. It stopped being funny shortly after starting my photo-taking. I quickly realized the whole show is pretty much about scantily clad women and sweaty, nerdy, middle aged men. Gross. So then I just took pictures of sweaty, nerdy, middle aged men playing video games. I realized that was much more fun...
